to me

Families,
I wanted to share a few summer enrichment opportunities and resources that may be helpful for students looking to stay engaged and continue learning over the summer.
The website Eugene Summer Camps has a wide variety of local summer camps organized by categories, including arts, sports, academics, and general interest camps. The site includes opportunities for people of many different ages and interests.
Some additional online learning resources families may find helpful include:
  • IXL — practice in math, language arts, science, and social studies at an individualized pace.
  • Khan Academy — free instructional videos and practice activities across many academic subjects.
  • Duolingo Kids — a fun option for students interested in learning a new language.
For families looking for more advanced or enriched learning experiences, there are not many packaged school curricula designed specifically for gifted learners. Our current reading and math curriculum does include extension activities and differentiation opportunities to support advanced students. Project-based learning can also be an excellent option for gifted learners because it allows for creativity, critical thinking, and deeper exploration of topics of interest, although it is often more time-intensive to design and implement.
Families interested in learning more about project-based learning can visit PBLWorks.
I hope these resources are helpful as you plan for summer learning opportunities.
Thank you,
Dawn
